I wonder why you might think that I think it'll be very close

Trevor clearly you can't be serious putting Chicago in 7th place ?
Let's break things down

Nashville , Winnipeg are not even remotely the same team they where last year.

Colorado has some question marks and their is no way st Louis after winning the cup with a unproven goalie will be anything more than 5th best

Chic ago just revamped their team defense , goaltending and if Crawford is healthy your looking at the best 1 , two punch in the entire league.

I'm putting Chicago fighting for 1st place in the division with Colorado.

As far as the Metro goes, yeah, I agree that division is quite difficult to predict.

One thing I do believe is that Columbus is gonna fall and fall hard. They have been gutted, whilst Jersey and the Rangers have added talent to go along with some blue chip prospects.

Agreed.

I have absolutely no idea what's going to happen in the Metro. Most teams fall into that "Good, not great" category.

LMAO!!!!!!

i’ll take two of whatever the fk you’re smoking. literally every team, save for MAYBE minnesota, is significantly better than the hawks.

race for first will be between nashville, colorado, and st. louis; winnipeg and dallas are both gonna be in it all year as well. def the hardest prediction to make on divisions, fully agree with the blog. wouldn’t be surprised if it came down to the last game or two. only thing that’s certain is how awful those last two clubs are lol

Yeah. Good, not great. A couple have the potential long term to be great, but they’re not developed enough. Pittsburgh will eventually fade. The Caps, too, but they still have gas in the tank.

Carolina is getting deeper, and they have skill. NYR, Jersey, and Philly have a lot coming up and/or are just maturing into legit players. They have the talent to become great in time. They’re just not there yet.

yeah. a lot of teams will be dependent on inconsistent/unknown goaltending.

playoffs will be decided on the backs of schneider/hart/mzarek/varlarmov

I agree. I take Florida over Buffalo. Buffalo more in the Detroit/Ottawa range. Better, but not by a lot

Nah he'll put up 75 points and lead all defensemen in scoring but won't win the Norris because he isn't "Due" yet.

I mean, it's cool he chose the Canes, but I'm not expecting much. Yeah he was good in college but he's also older than Gustav Forsling and Haydn Fleury, so...

I personally think Carolina will regress a bit. Florida will be a top team.

BOLD PREDICTION for 2019-20: - Leafs fail to qualify for the Playoffs.

Atlantic Division:
1. Tampa Bay Lightning
2. Boston Bruins
3. Florida Panthers
4. Toronto Maple Leafs
5. Buffalo Sabres
6. Montreal Canadiens
7. Detroit Red Wings
8. Ottawa Senators

Metropolitan Division:
1. Washington Capitals
2. Pittsburgh Penguins
3. Philadelphia Flyers*
4. Carolina Hurricanes
5. New Jersey Devils
6. New York Rangers
7. Columbus Blue Jackets
8. New York Islanders

I can’t see the Leafs missing it. I know the defense is suspect to some, but the have a solid goalie and a deep offense. If they miss it, that means you have the Devils getting in over them. That’s like really bold.

I’d flip flop the Leafs and Panthers, but I still have Florida getting in. Honestly, I think I’d go Tampa, Toronto, Boston, Florida.

I’d probably also switch Carolina and Philly as of now, but if Hart busts out, you might be right. I hope you’re right.

I'm just happy to have a goaltender who may or may not be good, instead of three who quite obviously aren't.

I think the chart you posted is going to be fairly accurate. I don't know much about the teams outside the Central, but I have Winnipeg and Nashville falling to somewhere in the 3-5 range in the division. I think both teams took steps back this offseason. I do think Chicago really improved defensively, and they will compete with WIN and COL for a wild card.
I would rank the teams in groups:
1-2 are DAL and STL
3 NAS
4-6 are WIN, COL, CHI
7 MIN
